If a death has occurred, please call us at (780) 347-9007 for immediate assistance. Our phones are answered 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

What’s the process?

When someone you love has passed, we’re here to help you make their final arrangements with the utmost care. Our calling is to learn about their unique personality and what they valued most, so we can help you make confident choices that are right for your loved one and your family.

Understand what to expect—below, you’ll find Arbor’s process for making final arrangements that reflect your loved one’s personality.

First call

Calling us is the first step. With a single call, you’ll have a team dedicated to guiding you through this difficult time. We’re here to answer you 24 hours a day, seven days a week, with compassion and sensitivity.

During our conversation, count on us to take any guesswork out of the picture and calmly move ahead. We’ll talk you through:

  1. Confirming we’re speaking to the right person to start the final arrangements process.
  2. The location of your loved one, so we can take them into our care with safety and dignity.
  3. Your initial thoughts on the arrangements you may want for your loved one.
  4. Help with information or documents to gather for our arrangement meeting.

Arrangement Meeting

When you arrive for our meeting, we’ll take the time to get to know you and your loved one.

As funeral directors, we start every arrangement meeting by asking you about your loved one. Understanding what mattered to them—and what matters to you—means we can partner with you to make arrangements that honour their legacy.

  1. What were their passions and interests?
  2. Who were the most important people in their life?
  3. How did they impact the lives of those around them?
  4. How did they want to be remembered?

We’ll discuss burial or cremation, religious traditions, and options including a visitation, graveside service, and reception. We’ll also help you to choose personal touches like music and keepsakes.

At the conclusion of the arrangement meeting, you will have the confidence in knowing that you’ve made the right decisions for your loved one, and that together we have co-created a highly personalized and unique service that is reflective of the life they lived.

Holding the Service

On the day of the service, our priority is making sure you and everyone in attendance can be fully present to share memories, relive joyful moments, and begin the healing process.

It’s our honour to take care of all the details.

Our team will prepare the venue where the service is being held. We’ll arrange flowers and memorabilia, set up for any religious and cultural customs, arrange pre-selected photos or videos, and display your chosen stationery, guestbook, and keepsakes.

If the service includes a dove release, activities for the kids, or other creative ideas, everything will be ready to go. We’ll also coordinate with catering, community locations, and people involved in this important day to guide them through each step and ensure a smooth experience.

Your loved one’s service will be delivered with compassion and care for every detail.

Aftercare

At Arbor Memorial, we believe no one should have to navigate grief alone. We also recognize the burden of completing paperwork and government documents in the face of grief.

Through our comprehensive aftercare program, we’re proud to organize grief support and practical assistance. On the practical side, we’re here to guide you through the tasks of completing documents and key tasks for closing an estate that are otherwise hard to keep track of.

You have a partner in us, and we’re here to help—before, during, and after the service.
